We hereby announce the plans to release redSHOP 1.1 in start of November 2010.

redSHOP 1.1 series will mark a new an improved structure and code base for redSHOP - it will in many ways improve the accessability and ease of which 3rd party developers can make integrations for redSHOP.

The 1.1 series will also contain improvements to DB queries, Object handling and in other ways render a more globally mature and more intelligent codebase for the future of redSHOP.

The redSHOP 1.1 series will be written for Joomla 1.6 with J! 1.5 support - so in some aspects we are planning our deadline on redSHOP 1.1 as per what we expect to be the approaximate release date for Joomla 1.6

Also it will mean that a great deal of the Price, VAT, Discount, Shipping etc. handling will be moved to centralized functions so that a bigger part of all existing payment and shipping plugins will also be updated in the process and will also be released as 1.1 series extensions.

As a result of this work in progress process we will only be releasing 2 more releases in the 1.0.x series. 1.0.29 is to be released on the 2nd of September and 1.0.30 is to be released on the 9th of September.

Hereafter there has not been planned any further releases for the 1.0 series.

The 1.0 series will have resultet in 33 releases from the 20th february till the 9th september - following 87 internal releases in the alpha and beta phases and so in total redSHOP as a project turns 120 releases with the 1.0.30 release since 1st May 2009 where development startet - so it is with great joy we look forward to brining redSHOP 1.1. online in the start of November 2010 and mark the 1,5 year birtday of redSHOP with an even better and even more optimized redSHOP.

Recently I have started creating a website using J1.5 + Redshop 1.0X.

Will it be easy to update from Redshop 1.0X to Redshop 1.1 taking into consideration that I will continue to use Joomla 1.5 ?

Yes - dont worry we will do it so it upgrades on top as it does now

One thing though! The 1.0.30 have a couple of fatal bugs. Does it mean that we have to wait, on till start of November - as you write? for a fix... that could be 20 days from now!

I'd imagine then if v1.0.31 is coming out today that there could potentially be at least one more release before v1.1, but it'll have to do only with critical bugs, maybe with calculations or method plugins.

I was feeling like the Thursday Thrills were over, I guess Ronni surprises once again.

Will the 1.1 version have a different layout from the backend? Just curious and excited No teaser screengrab?

From what I know, you'll see a few tweaks and enhancements here and there in redSHOP v1.1, both in front-end and back-end, but the majority of the rebuild is in the code that you won't see (unless you're a developer looking through redSHOP's files).

However, there are plans in motion for a few surprises which should please all redSHOP users, especially those upgrading to v1.1 when it's released in mid-late November.

I am guestimating 1.1 release for start of December.

The release sofar includes around 40+ updated components/modules and plugins and the number will grow before release
